Our furniture requires little maintenance. It will arrive treated with wood oil which resists the detrimental effects of our weather. You can leave your product untouched and just wash the furniture with soapy water when required. Or you can re-treat twice yearly using wood oil.
Your Devon Oke furniture can be cleaned easily by simply washing twice yearly with a stiff brush and soapy water. If washed and left untreated, the furniture will gradually turn an elegant silver grey colour. Small cracks may appear, especially on the end grain. These are perfectly normal characteristics and will not affect the strength or long-term durability of the furniture.
When re-treating the furniture, it is essential that it is first cleaned to remove any dirt. Use a scrubbing brush and warm soapy water. When completely clean and free from weathered areas and detritus, the furniture can be treated with an application of a wood oil, taking care to follow manufacturers instructions and safety precautions. This is best applied with a cloth rather than brush. It should, however, be noted that once this course of treatment is started it needs to be continued regularly twice yearly to prevent uneven colouring as the wood weathers.
Covering your furniture may cause it to sweat and develop mould. We advocate leaving your furniture uncovered to weather naturally.
We recommend that your plantation umbrella be dry cleaned only. Store parasols in a dry area when not in use. Do not put your plantation umbrella away damp, as they will go mouldy!
